September 2019 Dear Kindergarten Parents, We have had a good first week of school! It always takes awhile to learn routines and get to know each other:) I am excited for a great year! We have been going to each environment (playground, lunchroom, classroom, hallway, bathroom) and discussing what FLYER PRIDE looks like and sounds like at each place! Ms. Casillas has been writing Flyer Pride tickets when she "catches" us showing what we learned:) I will begin our reading series next week, we have a special story to read and skills to work on. Each week I send home a "Family Times" and a short story. This is great for "homework" and practicing the skills we are highlighting. Next week we will be looking at letter names and sight words.....am & I. Our story is The Little School Bus. In math we are working with numbers and showing how many. We practice counting routines, both forward (5, 6, 7, 8) and backward (4, 3, 2, 1). We will begin practicing fire drills and lockdowns occasionally. Just so you are aware if your child talks about these. Scholastic book orders are due Sept. 13th. You can order on line or send the form and money to me if you are interested in that. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns. Your partner in education, Cindy Casillas
